“The future of the world is in my classroom today” that’s why Project R E A P is born.

R -Rejuvenate and E- Elevate A – Academic P – Performance.

Marilyn F. Tamundong

Grade I pupils of San Agustin Elementary School unfortunately got failing grades in three learning areas such as: Mother Tongue, Mathematics and Araling Panlipunan. Evidence shown in the General Weighted Average authenticated the results of the first grading period.

Nonetheless, Grade I teachers chaired by Ms. Gizlle Lovely Salvador with the advice of the school head, Dr. Genie-Ann T. Santos, did not waste time to act, resolving the-not-so-beautiful outcome of our young learners’ performance. Not to mention that as young as they are they got to fail in some subjects, very unhealthy for a neophyte. With their age and exposure to education, theirs must be positive and encouraging. As young citizens, they must be inspired and they should learn the importance and beauty of learning.

Out of 720 pupils in Mother Tongue 116 pupils or 16% got 70%-74%; in Mathematics, 129 pupils or 18% and in Araling Panlipunan, it’s 15% or 112 pupils got 70%-74% .

Series of meetings were held, a number of brainstorming was conducted, and consultations were done. Action Plans were prepared and worksheets were redesigned. Parents were invited in a meeting, informing them about the needed remedial classes to be conducted. Interview to the parents was conducted to strengthen the sincerity of the project.

Specifically, Project R E A P aims to rejuvenate and elevate the academic performance of the learners with:

        Mother Tongue, from 116 pupils or 16% to 740 pupils or 100% to get from 70% – 74% to 75% – 80%; Mathematics, from 129 pupils or 18% pupils to 740 pupils or 100% to get from 70% – 74% t0 75%-80%; and Araling Panlipunan, from 112 pupils or 15% to 740 pupils or 100% to get from 70%-74% to 75%-80%.

Success is inevitable. At the strike of 2nd Grading Period 100% or 720 pupils got passing grade in Mother Tongue, Mathematics and Araling Panlipunan.

Evidently, teamwork works, collaboration is the name of the game, open communication with parents is effective, redesigning worksheets and innovative teaching styles do make a difference in achieving the rejuvenated and elevated academic performance of the learners.

Truly, performance of the learners have something to do with teachers, instructional materials and learning environment. Learning spells a never ending acquisition of knowledge, one should not cease to desire learning and absorbing insights, information, and trends specially in education for the youth are the recipients of those learnings. As the world moves, no living soul should stop specially in the field of learning. Times evolve and innovate. So with humans, they should go with the current of learning, dance with the music of upgrading and with a smile walk walk side-by-side with development.
